philosophy®:  2 c. cake flour, 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 2 sticks softened unsalted butter, 1 1/4 tsp. dried lavender blossoms, 1 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. grated lemon zest, 4 eggs, 1/2 c. milk.  sift flour and baking powder, set aside.  in large bowl, cream butter, add lavender, sugar and lemon zest.  continue beating until light in color and texture.  add eggs one at a time beating thoroughly after each one.  add half of flour mixture; mix, then add milk.  fold in remaining flour.  transfer mixture to greased and lined 8 x 4 x 2 1/2 baking pan.  bake at 325 for 1 hour.  cool on wire rack.
